ACL 2013 >> is nearly upon us at last! Deep in the heart of Texas this weekend [FRI-SUN] will take place a gala of 8 stages on the enormous southwest grasslands of Zilker Park in Austin and - oh yeah - a monstrous lineup of legendary artists spanning 3 powerful decades of splendor. Let's get weird!! Austin weird.
Okay, obvi if you're reading this you can see the roster above and understand why I'm currently shitting my pants for excitement. An event that boasts the likes of Vampire Weekend, Muse, Phoenix, Passion Pit, etc. is sure to get any other music lover to do the same. But here are 11 reasons why this is going to be an epic fest.
The Cure >> easily one of the greatest bands of all time and not ashamed to admit I'm about to go full emo up in this in my first Robert Smith experience
Austin is WEIRD >> in the most rad fucking way possible and that weirdicalness should be exemplified in its own homegrown festivity
Depeche Mode >> another bucket list buster for me and a band that paved the way for a lot of the electro music I have always held dear to my 120 heartbeats per minute
'Not In Love' >> being that Robert Smith will already be on the premises with The Cure, plus Crystal Castles will have already begun a tour with Depeche Mode, I'm excited by the mere possibility of a surprise 'Not In Love' performance on Saturday night
Grimes >> just got into her shit last year but her performance at Coachella this year blew my shit away and now I'm OBSESSED with this Canadian electro vixen
 Beers >> it's a festival right? Cheers y'all
Arctic Monkeys >> one of my favorite performances at Lollapalooza 2011 in the pouring rain and still rocked the fuck out mudman status
Franz Ferdinand >> have been to several fests with Franz on the bill but have epically failed to ever make it over to the stage and catch any of their performances
Kaskade >> okay I've been to at least 10 Kaskade parties already but I'm excited for a few good friends to finally see him get down
Purity Ring >> love love love but never seen live
Discoveries >> this goes for big festivals in general but there's something to be said about what I can learn and be introduced to at a festival in the city of musicians not only performing but amongst us as well
