Outside Lands 2012 >> in San Francisco isn't just your typical music festival. The lineup was stacked with a variety of music like the standard 3-day banger but this gala is unique in that it also is in celebration of arts in bomb gourmet food, mega eclectic culture and all immersed in the middle of Golden Gate Park during a time when it is unusually chillier than The Bay's winter.
Some of my favorite artists of all time took stage as well as some of the long awaited ones that became new favorites. So just as Outside Lands 2012 came and went during the closing weekend of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, here are the top performances of the festival in medal ceremony fashion.
Friday's Best Performance
GOLD: Justice
SILVER: Foo Fighters
BRONZE: MSTRKRFT
Saturday's Best Performance
GOLD: Passion Pit
SILVER: The Kills
BRONZE: Metallica
Sunday's Best Performance
GOLD: Santigold
SILVER: Skrillex
BRONZE: Bloc Party
There were some other solid performances throughout the weekend from Washed Out, YACHT, Beck, Reggie Watts and Regina Spektor but just not strong enough to medal and unfortunately the medal recipients conflicting with the set times of Jack White, Wolfgang Gartner and Stevie Wonder. But overall it was a great Olympic weekend at Golden Gate Park. Below is some of the footage I was able to capture from the crowd with DJ Siri Sauce but you can check out the buttload of other vids on the zBORED YouTube channel.
