Ghostface Killah Apollo Kids > just in time for the holidays and what better way to end the fiscal music year than with Ghost's 9th solo album? It's a perfect complement to the home-for-the-holidays hoo-riding with the homies.

Ghostface Killah > Apollo Kids

As you'd expect, Apollo Kids features some of your favorite Wu-Tang Clan members like Method Man, GZA, and Raekwon along with extended chamber ventricles like Killah Priest and Cappadonna. The kicker is the lineup of guest artists Ghostface brings to the party including Busta Rhymes, Redman and The Game.

Perhaps Apollo Kids' core competency is the pleasantly distinct variation in tracks. While I've always appreciated the verses Ghost has laid down on Wu albums, his solo releases have, for the most part, lacked uniqueness from one another and furthermore within each release.

However, this LP defies that monotony featuring Spanish guitar and harmonica cut into 'Black Tequila', Erykah Badu-like vocals on 'Superstar', a 60's soul sample of The Intruders in '2getha Baby', a retro mashup of 'Shout' by Tears For Fears in the hook of 'Starkology' all in harmony with Ghostface Killah's somberly smooth tone and flow.

Cop this disc - it's a breath of fresh Ghostface air and a solid project, especially following his R&B Jodeci-themed release from last year. It's under $10 almost everywhere right now so well worth the C.R.E.A.M. even if you're not a Wu-Tang loyalist     :j Marc
