Cansei de Ser Sexy La Liberación > is out in the US today and those Brazilian electropoppers definitely did it well again. They've been around since 2005 but this is only their 3rd full length studio album. Their last release Donkey [really rad btw] was in 2008 so after 3 years of strictly touring the globe this LP has been really long awaited.
La Liberación is a very fun album. I've already listened to it 3 times today and have only had it about 5 hours. It's mad upbeat and starts off super electro, setting the tone for the rest of the 11 tracks. My 2 favorite songs are the title track 'La Liberación' which is done entirely in their native tongue [Portuguese, doy] and 'City Grrrl' which opens with some flamenco-style guitar then drops in some hard drum and synth.
The last track 'Fuck Everything' is also a really cool one. Foreign girls singing various American expletives always kills me plus it contains a hidden track that's uber-spaceman style and hopefully a foreshadowing of further electronic experimentation for the group. The first single off this release 'Hits Me Like a Rock' is solid [pun intended] and has that familiar dance pop sound like a lot of the tracks from Donkey.
